Questions families ask
Is this morbid?
We don't think so. It's closer to a diary you speak into before sleep. Most nights it's small things: a thank-you, a worry, something funny. Some of it you'll share now, some you'll keep for later. It's your choice.
What will Tara ask me?
One gentle question each night, like “Anything you want to share today?” or “Is there something you've never said to someone?” Skip it, answer in ten seconds, or talk for ten minutes.
Will you make an AI version of me?
No, never. AI only drafts a headline and a list of lessons from your own words, and you approve them. We won't clone your voice or face. Tara is our guide character, not a copy of you.
Video or voice: which should I choose?
Video is the heart of TellingStars: your face, your smile, your hands as you talk. If you're camera-shy, record a voice message instead, or add a short written note. You can mix all three.
How do sealed messages reach my family?
You name 3 trusted people in order. If you haven't opened the app in 60 days, Tara checks in with you first. If there's still no answer, we contact your first person, then your second, then your third, and ask for more confirmation. A waiting period follows and you're notified; if you're fine, you cancel with one tap. Only then does each person receive the messages meant for them.
What if TellingStars shuts down?
You can download everything at any time. If we ever close, our written shutdown policy commits us to advance notice and a download window. See the draft policy.
